Tactics

Tactics refer to short-term, concrete sequences of moves that exploit specific features of a position—typically involving forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks, and other forcing motifs. Tactics contrast with strategy (long-term planning). As Richard Teichmann said, "chess is 99% tactics."
