If someone had told me 20 years ago that cutting out alcohol, sugar, potato, bread, rice, pasta, breakfast cereals and fruit … and consuming instead, fatty red meat, oily fish, a little bacon, butter, cheese, avocados, eggs, sea salt and lots of green veg would make me feel much healthier, lose weight, have less food cravings, lower appetite and experience improved mental wellbeing, I would not have believed them.
I do now.
@diver saidVery happy for you, my friend. Yes sugar, in all its clever disguises, is the enemy.

It's good that you're only cutting out potato and not potatoes. A life without potatoes... Impossible.

The older we get the more we need to get serious about our diet & lifestyle to maintain our physical & mental wellbeing. When I ever had a pain I used to think ‘Do I need to see a doctor?’ These days I first think ‘What have I eaten, done or not done to cause this?’
We have far more control over our health than we realise.
@Trev333 saidNot all fruit but most; the complex sugar content is horrendous; it gets broken down into glucose and still messes with you. Surprisingly for me bananas are one of the worst culprits. Sugar is as bad as drugs, in fact I am now regarding it as literally that.
Fruit?

@diver saidWhat about my credo? Everything in moderation.🤔 Oh, hang on. I guess like most things…what works for one may not fir another…carry on…with what works best for you.👍

I eliminated all animal produce from my diet 12 years ago. I try to grow as much veg/herbs/fruit and plants as I can and I make sure I cook my meals from scratch. I've noticed a lot of communities setting up 'incredible edible' veg gardens which I think is great. I avoid ultra processed food at all costs.
@Great-Big-Stees saidYou’re from a healthier gene pool than most so you can get away with moderation 🙂
